Jam jars / beer bottles - free to a good home [Oct. 11th, 2010|07:08 pm]
Home made Sheffield

longhairedhippy
We've been doing some kitchen tidying and have discovered a rich seam of glass jars and beer / wine bottles that we were going to use for beer and jam making but we somehow never got round to it.

They're free to a good home if anyone wants them, if I don't hear from anyone they'll be going in the blue bin for recycling on Friday.

Glass jars free to a good home [Jan. 4th, 2008|11:06 am]

We have an entire cupboard full of glass jars of a variety of sizes, which would be perfect for jarring-up home made jams, pickles, pickled onions, or just for general storage.

They're all washed and have had the labels removed, we've got far more than we'd ever need, but I thought I'd offer them on here before I took them for recycling.

If you're interested, we're in Hillsborough.

Chocolate / Cake Tins anyone? [Dec. 20th, 2007|11:44 am]

I have rescued a load of chocolate tins from work as I thought they might be useful to someone. Can anyone use then for their baking or crafts?

(sadly no chocolates)

I have wild garlic, tonnes of the stuff, for anyone who wants it?

There's also a pot of chives and a few plan pots going spare if anyone needs them?

Apples [Dec. 12th, 2006|03:38 pm]

Hi All,
I currently still have custody of a large portion of the free apples collected by myself and Edy. (That's custODY OF apples, not custARD apples, before anybody gets over excited...) I reckon quite a lot have gone off already and the rest won't last too much further through the winter.
Getting on top of things slightly more now with baby, but just don't think we'll have time to do anything with most of these before they go off.

If you want some apples (mainly cookers) let me know - first come first served people.

cheers
Pete

Has anyone got a juicer I could borrow please?

I've been offered some free apples if I go and pick them and I'd like to juice them and have a go at making cider. Rather than spending lots of £ on something I may only use once, it'd be good if I could borrow one please.

Suggestions for using the apples (other than crumbles and sauce) are welcome.

Ta.

Some one is giving away Crab Apples on Sheffield Freecycle thought they'd be of interest, apparently idea for crab apple jelly or pickles.

Elderberry and blackberry wine [Sep. 15th, 2006|05:40 pm]

[music |The Police - "Don't stand so close to me" (in my head)]

I have some elderberry and blackberry wine on the go, as the title of this post suggests - I am planning on bottling some/all of it into half-bottles, in case I'm going to be trading wine with other folks on this community.

Is anyone else brewing at the moment? Would you be willing to trade some home-brewed fruit wine?

cider? something else? [Sep. 15th, 2006|07:40 am]

I gave my juicer away, so bear in mind all I have is a food mixer/chopper (one of those kenwood things with all the attachments) and the best I can make is pulp.

I have a ton of apples to get rid of, and I don't fancy any more pies/cakes/lardiness. I want to make juice, or even better, cider, or some other basically-fruit-and-not-a-lot-else products.

Ideas? Inspiration? Recipes? Methods?
